Finding Shots Worth the Journey
Why We Do What We Do
Est. 2025
The best shots in the Andes aren't where the tour buses stop.
After a life-changing first expedition to Peru in 2022, it became clear these mountains held something special—endless valleys and peaks that would be crawling with photographers if they were in the Alps or Rockies, but here they sat empty, waiting.
We started going to these places with the idea of bringing small groups, sharing locations that are adventure and landscape photographers' paradise. Places where you can capture images that nobody else has.
We're here for photographers who understand that getting the shot sometimes means starting the hike at 3am, who know that weather can make or break a composition, and who'd rather have one incredible image than a hundred average ones.
Photography First, Everything Else Follows
Small Groups, Big Impact
Workshops with maximum 6 photographers for intensive instruction. Expeditions with up to 10 people focused on capturing great shots. Everyone gets the angle and the time they need.
Timing Is Everything
We plan around light, not convenience. If golden hour means a 4am start, that's when we go. If the best conditions happen during shoulder season, that's when we're there.
Expert-Led Itineraries
Matt lives in Peru full-time and has explored the nooks and crannies of the largest mountain ranges for 4+ years, meaning he knows the special places and times to visit these areas unlike any influencer that passes through. This is his home, not just a vacation spot.
Tailor-Made Experiences, Not Packaged Tours
Your skill level, your photography goals, your interests. We adapt the experience to match what you're looking for, not force you into a predetermined itinerary.
Sometimes Rugged, Always Real
We're honest about what each experience requires. Some itineraries venture into challenging mountain terrain, others are single-day programs without intense physical demands. We prepare you for what's ahead, no surprises.
The Photographer Who Started It All
Matt Stacy's journey to the Andes began far from these peaks—in the flatlands of the Midwestern United States. Everything changed when he moved to Southern California and discovered the coastal ranges.
What started as weekend hikes with a camera transformed into a life-defining pursuit. The mountains weren't just subjects—they became the lens through which Matt understood patience, timing, and the art of being present.
"My passion for photography and mountain exploration grew together. I fell in love with hiking long miles to reach scenic destinations, and I wanted to capture that journey in a way that would inspire others to do the same. The mountains became my classroom—every summit taught me something about light, weather, and patience."
That passion led to a life-altering first trip to Peru in 2022, where Matt climbed his first glaciated mountain and discovered a landscape that redefined what he thought was possible in mountain photography. The Andes offered something the familiar peaks of California couldn't—untouched valleys, dramatic glaciers, and a sense of true exploration.
The decision to stay wasn't just about beautiful landscapes. It was about finding a place where adventure photography could be more than a hobby—where it could become a way of life and a way to share these mountains with others who understand their pull.
Since founding Andes Adventure Visuals in 2025, Matt has dedicated himself to sharing these incredible locations with other photographers who crave something beyond the usual shots.
Credentials & Experience
"These certifications and experiences aren't just resume builders—they're my commitment to exploring off the beaten path safely. When we're chasing shots in remote valleys or on technical terrain, you need someone who can handle whatever the mountains throw at us. That's what allows us to go where others don't."

Taking Care Of the Places That Take Care Of Us
Leave No Trace, Leave No Impact
We follow LNT principles religiously. Pack it in, pack it out. Stay on established routes when they exist. Respect wildlife distances for photos.
Supporting Local Communities
We hire local guides, use family-run lodges when possible, and ensure our presence benefits the communities near our expedition routes. Matt Stacy's fluency in Spanish helps us build genuine relationships, not just transactions.
Small Groups By Design
Our group size limit isn't just about photography—it's about minimizing our impact on fragile mountain ecosystems.
Education Through Experience
Every expedition includes discussion of local conservation challenges. When photographers understand what threatens these places, they become advocates for protecting them.
Carbon Conscious
We offset expedition transport emissions and encourage clients to do the same for their flights. Not perfect, but necessary.
